Who we are

Seek is an iOS app for saving and revisiting places.

Your account

Seek signs you in with Apple, so there is no username or password to create. Apple gives us a unique identifier for you and an email address. That address may be an Apple “Hide My Email” relay address rather than your real one — either way we receive it and store it. We don’t keep your name.

Your email address is held by our authentication provider, Supabase, and it is what ties the places you save to you.

Your places and content

What you save is stored on your device, and synced to our servers so it is there on your other devices. That includes:

• saved places — name, address, postcode, phone number, website and precise coordinates
• tags you create, and the tags attached to each place
• notes you write about a place
• visit logs and your half-star ratings
• lists and saved filters

If you share a link into Seek from another app with Save to Seek, we use it to find the place you shared.

This content belongs to your account, and is therefore linked to your email address.

Location

Seek asks for location access only while you are using the app — never in the background. It is used to show nearby places and how far away they are. We do not store your current location. The coordinates we keep are the coordinates of the places you save.

Crash and performance diagnostics

If the app crashes or misbehaves, Apple’s MetricKit may hand us a diagnostic report the next time Seek launches. Reports are not linked to your account — they carry no user identifier — and one can be sent before you ever sign in. We keep them for 30 days, then delete them.

Purchases

Seek Premium is bought through the App Store, so Apple takes the payment. We never see your card details. RevenueCat processes the purchase and entitlement records that tell the app whether Premium is active. Purchase records are kept under a random identifier, not your Seek account.

Place search

Search queries and place lookups are sent to Google Maps Platform so it can return matching places. To show results near you, searches can include your approximate location or the area of the map you are looking at. Google’s handling of that data is described in Google’s privacy policy.

This website

We use Vercel Analytics to count page views in aggregate. It does not use cookies.

Technical data

When the app or this website talks to our providers’ servers, they receive your IP address and basic device information, such as the app and iOS version, as part of normal request logs. These are used to run and secure the service and are kept for a limited period.

Who processes data for us

What we do not do

• No advertising and no advertising SDKs.
• We do not sell your data.
• No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.
• No tracking you across other apps or websites.
• We don’t send you marketing email. Your email address is only used for your account.
• No automated decision-making or profiling.

Our lawful bases

We process your account details and your content to perform our contract with you — running the app and syncing your places. Crash diagnostics and website analytics rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the app working and understanding which parts of it are used.

International transfers

Our database and sign-in service are hosted by Supabase in the European Union (Ireland), which UK data protection law recognises as adequate. Some of our other providers, such as Apple, RevenueCat, Google and Vercel, may process data in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the safeguards in their data processing terms, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

• Your places, tags, notes, visits and lists: for as long as you have an account. When you delete an item in the app it disappears straight away, but we keep a hidden copy on our servers until you delete your account.
• Crash reports: 30 days.
• Our hosting provider keeps backups and server logs for a limited period so we can recover from failures. Data in them expires when they do; we don’t restore from them for any other reason.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings → Manage Account → Delete Account and type DELETE to confirm. This removes your account and the synced copies of your places, tags, notes, visits and lists from our servers. Copies in backups are removed when those backups expire.

To be sure nothing remains on a device you are getting rid of, delete the app from it as well as deleting your account. Deleting the app clears the copy held on that device.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription — see below.

Subscriptions

Seek Premium subscriptions are billed by Apple and renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel it in your Apple ID settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions), which is separate from deleting your Seek account. Refunds are handled by Apple. A Lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and does not renew.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to how we use it, or ask us to move it somewhere else. Email support@seekplaces.app and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Seek is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
